12/2010 CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD APPROVES STATE’S NEW EMISSIONS TRADING PROGRAM, AS EOS CLIMATE RECAPS SUCCESSFUL 2010

California’s Air Resources Board gave the green light to California’s historic emissions trading program, at a public hearing on December 16, 2010, marking a significant milestone toward reducing the state’s greenhouse gas emissions under its pioneering climate change law signed by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2006.  As the nation's first economy-wide cap-and-trade program targeting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, California’s early action positions its economy to reap the benefits on the world stage and catalyze action throughout the country and the world.   ODS destruction projects qualify as early action and compliance offsets under the new regulations.

The Climate Action Reserve hailed ARB’s adoption of the state's cap-and-trade program as “a truly historic moment in this nation's climate change policy,” and underscored the power of real, collaborative public-private partnerships that serve as an example for future climate policy.

EOS delivered almost 1 million tons of greenhouse gas emission reductions from destruction of US sourced ODS in 2010. We anticipate further success in 2011, as we begin work in the AB32 compliance program and as we continue to build our reputation for operational excellence, integrity, high quality, and unparalleled technical and regulatory expertise.
