12/2010 CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD APPROVES STATE’S NEW EMISSIONS TRADING PROGRAM, AS EOS CLIMATE RECAPS SUCCESSFUL 2010

California’s Air Resources Board gave the green light to California’s historic emissions trading program, at a public hearing on December 16, 2010, marking a significant milestone toward reducing the state’s greenhouse gas emissions under its pioneering climate change law signed by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2006.  As the nation's first economy-wide cap-and-trade program targeting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, California’s early action positions its economy to reap the benefits on the world stage and catalyze action throughout the country and the world.   ODS destruction projects qualify as early action and compliance offsets under the new regulations.

The Climate Action Reserve hailed ARB’s adoption of the state's cap-and-trade program as “a truly historic moment in this nation's climate change policy,” and underscored the power of real, collaborative public-private partnerships that serve as an example for future climate policy.

EOS delivered almost 1 million tons of greenhouse gas emission reductions from destruction of US sourced ODS in 2010. We anticipate further success in 2011, as we begin work in the AB32 compliance program and as we continue to build our reputation for operational excellence, integrity, high quality, and unparalleled technical and regulatory expertise.

10/28/2010  CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD PROPOSES US ODS PROJECT ELIGIBILITY FOR OFFSET CREDITS UNDER AB32

California's Air Resources Board has announced the release of its proposed greenhouse gas cap-and-trade regulations. Under the proposal, domestic ODS destruction offsets would be included as early action and compliance offsets under AB32. We consider ARB’s decision a ground-breaking step by a GHG regulatory program -- in recognition of the additionality, permanence, and transparent verification of these projects. Public comment period on the rulemaking extends until December 16, when ARB holds public hearings in Sacramento.

EOS provided much information to policy makers and you can find all our public comments here.

7/20/2010 EOS CLIMATE ISSUES PRESS RELEASE ON FIRST ODS DESTRUCTION PROJECT

In a multimedia press release issued via Business Wire, we hail our first Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) destruction project verified and listed under the Climate Action Reserve (CAR) registry's new U.S. Ozone Depleting Substances Project Protocol.   It is not only the first ODS destruction project verified and listed under CAR but is also the only project developed from exclusively U.S.-sourced ODS.    The project gathered and destroyed CFC-12 refrigerants harvested from more than 100,000 recycled refrigerators and commercial cooling systems, and generated 503,648 vintage 2010 Climate Reserve Tonnes (CRTs).

EOS Climate worked with partners JACO Environmental, the country’s largest appliance recycler, Hudson Technologies, a leading distributor and reclaimer of refrigerants, and Clean Harbors Environmental Services, the leading provider of environmental, energy and industrial services and the largest hazardous waste disposal company in North America.

“EOS Climate has successfully pioneered the concept of ODS destruction in carbon markets, and the issuance of the first CRTs show carbon finance can provide a solution to this massive environmental problem,” said CEO Joe Madden.

5/2/2010 EOS CLIMATE PROJECT A FIRST ON CLIMATE ACTION RESERVE (CAR) REGISTRY

Signaling a significant and early milestone, EOS Climate has developed the first ODS destruction project verified and listed under the CAR registry's U.S. Ozone Depleting Substances Project Protocol. It is not only the first ODS destruction project verified and listed under CAR, it also represents the second largest of all reported projects in terms of CO2-e reductions on the registry, to-date. The project generated 252,970 vintage 2010 CRTs from the destruction of CFC-12 refrigerant, a greenhouse gas 10,900 times more potent than carbon dioxide. For this project, EOS worked with partners JACO Environmental and Hudson Technologies.

4/15/2010 JEFF COHEN RECEIVES CLIMATE ACTION RESERVE'S DISTINGUISED CARROT AWARD

The Climate Action Reserve (CAR) has honored Jeff Cohen, EOS Climate's Senior V.P. for Science and Policy, with its distinguished "CARROT" award. Each year, CAR staff gives these awards to select partners that have done extraordinary work in the field of climate action, or who have helped support CAR's mission of ensuring the highest standards in greenhouse gas emissions inventory and reduction accounting, as well as working towards progressive movement in climate change policy.

CAR President Gary Gero, and California EPA Secretary Linda Adams, presented the awards in conjunction with the annual conference, Navigating the American Carbon World, April 14-16, in San Francisco.

EOS Climate's ODS destruction methodology served as the springboard for CAR's U.S. ODS Project Protocol, adopted earlier this year.

2/22/2010 EOS CLIMATE AND HUDSON TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCE ALLIANCE OPENING THE WAY TO MARKET BASED SOLUTIONS TO CLIMATE CHANGE

PEARL RIVER, NY – FEBRUARY 18, 2010 – Hudson Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: HDSN), a leading distributor and reclaimer of refrigerants as well as a provider of proprietary on-site decontamination services for large comfort and process cooling systems, announced today that it has formed an alliance with EOS Climate, Inc. (“EOS Climate”) to develop and deliver permanent greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions reductions to the evolving carbon market.

Kevin Zugibe, Chairman and CEO stated: “We believe this alliance with EOS Climate will help us utilize a new protocol recently approved by the Climate Action Reserve’s (“CAR”) Board, to generate high quality emissions reductions through the destruction of ozone depleting substances (“ODS”), such as Chlorofluorocarbons (“CFCs”), that have been phased out of production. Ozone depleting substances are also potent greenhouse gases and preventing their release provides significant environmental and climate benefits. Hudson’s deep experience and knowledge of the refrigerant market, coupled with EOS Climate's expertise in greenhouse gas projects provides both companies a route to carbon market revenues while driving permanent, scalable emissions reductions.”

Joe Madden commented, “We have developed an integrated system of market leaders at each step of the supply chain to ensure a regular supply of high quality emissions reductions to meet the growing demand in North America. Hudson is an important partner for us, with their record of delivery, reliability and expertise.”

2/5/2010 CLIMATE ACTION RESERVE RELEASES STANDARDS FOR DESTRUCTION OF OZONE DEPLETING SUBSTANCES

The Climate Action Reserve (CAR) has adopted two new offset project standards that could lead to millions of metric tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions.

In December 2008, EOS submitted its ODS destruction methodology to CAR which served as the springboard for this final protocol which brings the U.S. one step closer to development of a market-based mechanism to address the climate change impacts associated with ODSs. Absent a quantifiable and verifiable market-based mechanism, these gases would otherwise be released to the atmosphere, equivalent to hundreds of millions of tons of CO2.

Jeff Cohen is quoted in the press release for this protocol:

"The new Protocols will immediately mobilize projects and new investment, and will help leverage financing from voluntary and ultimately compliance GHG markets domestically and worldwide. EOS Climate looks forward to permanently preventing GHG emissions by implementing projects developed according to these new Protocols," said Jeff Cohen, VP Science & Policy at EOS Climate Inc. EOS had originally submitted the concept for the ODS protocols to the Reserve. "From the start, we believed the Reserve would provide the most transparent, verifiable, and comprehensive framework ensuring the integrity of greenhouse gas reductions."

12/2009 EOS CLIMATE SHOWCASED AS PART OF U.S. COMMERCE DEPARTMENT "BRIGHT GREEN" IN COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

EOS Climate V.P. for Science and Policy, Jeff Cohen, and V.P for Business Development, Saskia Feast, traveled to Copenhagen on invitation from the U.S. Commerce Department to participate in Bright Green, the 2-day exposition of 170 global businesses offering “cutting edge” climate solutions in energy, water, transport, city planning, building design and materials. Distinguished visitors to our booth included U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, White House Science Advisor John Holdren, and Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire. Bright Green ran concurrently with the international climate negotiations sponsored by UNFCC. As part of a delegation sponsored by the Business Council for Sustainable Energy, EOS Climate also attended the Bella Center expo, meeting with country delegates and a wide range of businesses, NGOs and project developers from around the world.

Ozone depleting substances (ODS's) were not on the agenda at Copenhagen. EOS Climate is anticipating near-term action on ODS through the forthcoming methodology from the Climate Action Reserve, widely expected to bring the U.S. one step closer to developing a market-based mechanism intended to address the climate impacts of ODS.
